Hello Shining Stars!
My name is Maggie Williams (Miss Williams) and I am so excited to be the music teacher at Shady Grove this year!
I'm a local from Watauga, and a recent graduate of TCU's School of Music. I've spent my years in college thinking about my teaching philosophy and how I want to implement that in the music room.
I believe that EVERYONE! Is musical, and has the ability to be musical. My goal at Shady Grove Elementary is to instill a love of music in my students, and show them that they can be as musical as they'd like. Even if a student doesn't pursue music into middle school, I want them to leave SGES knowing that they can if they ever want to.
Music is the universal language that everyone in the world speaks, and I believe that it is important for students to understand and celebrate that.

Just A Bit About Me . . .
Performance:
Along with being a music teacher, I am a frequent performer. During my time at TCU, I performed in many opera productions and choral concerts. Singing opera is my passion alongside teaching, and I look forward to bringing my performance experience to the students in their musical growth and class productions. I have several successful performances under my belt, some of which include famous works from composers Verdi, Mozart, and Nino Rota.

The Santo Spirito church in Perugia, Italy
Most recently, I was invited to perform opera in Perugia, Italy; a small Italian country town. While in Italy, I studied the role of Susanna from Mozarts Italian opera, Nozze di Figaro, and did workshops with well-established European opera singers. I was blessed to have the opportunity to sing in aged concert halls and churches, such as the one on the left.
While in Perugia, I also had the opportunity to work with live orchestra, and pianists of all ages-including little ones! While the trip was incredibly valuable for my future as a performer, I was most excited about how I could take that experience and bring it to the students at Shady Grove.
